Congratulations National Merit Semifinalists

Congratulations to Katie Emmett, Colton Graham, and Braden Ramsey for being selected as National Merit Semifinalists. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Congratulations Seniors!

Campbell County School Receives 4.9 Million in Federal Funding for Comprehensive School Safety Work

Youth violence continues to be a significant concern in US schools, yet no study has focused on using networked school-aged peers to report and mitigate instances of bullying, peer conflict and/or school violence.  Campbell County School District was notified late last week that they have received 4.9 million dollars in funding from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) to do just that.   The district pursued this competitive research grant in May of 2016 as part of the NIJ Comprehensive School Safety Initiative.  The goal of this initiative is to improve the safety of our nation’s schools and students through rigorous research that produces practical knowledge. Click here for the entire press release about this wonderful opportunity for our students.
